The Municipality of Cateel conducted the first orientation and coordination meeting on August 26, 2026, at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Legislative Building for schools invited to compete for the Kutoo Festival 2026.
The meeting was facilitated by Kutoo Festival organizer Roland โ€œOlanโ€ F. Emboscado together with the Municipal Mayorโ€™s Office, represented by Mr. Bryan Ephraem E. Miguel, as part of the municipalityโ€™s initial preparations for the festival scheduled on October 29, 2026.
Representatives from public and private secondary schools, as well as elementary and integrated schools, attended the orientation. Participating institutions included:
Davao Oriental State University Cateel Campus
Cateel Vocational High School
Cateel National Agricultural High School
San Antonio National High School
Maryknoll Academy of Cateel
Cateel Institute of Arts and Trades, Inc.,
Taytayan Integrated School,
San Rafael Integrated School,
Alegria Integrated School, and
San Alfonso Elementary School.

Among the major topics discussed were the mechanics and guidelines of the Streetdance Competition, including matters that participating schools need to consider in preparing their respective entries.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for school representatives to raise their issues, concerns, and clarifications regarding their possible participation in the competition. These concerns were discussed during the coordination meeting to help ensure that schools are properly guided as preparations for the festival move forward.
The organizers emphasized that the meeting served as an initial orientation and consultation with schools. As of the meeting, commitments and participation of the invited schools remain subject to confirmation, with no final list of participating schools yet established.
The orientation marks an early step in coordinating with the education sector as the Municipality of Cateel prepares for the Kutoo Festival 2026, which will highlight the talents, creativity, and cultural expression of the community through various festival activities.
