The Local School Board (LSB) of the Municipality of Cateel convened on August 25, 2026 at the CTN Boardroom, 2/F Municipal Building, with Hon. Mayor Emilou “Miloy” Nuñez presiding over the meeting.
A major focus of the meeting was the budget allocation for education-related programs and activities, alongside preparations for Cateel’s role as one of the host municipalities for the upcoming Provincial Meet 2026 scheduled on September 10–15, 2026.
The Board discussed the various requirements for the sports events to be hosted in Cateel, ensuring that the municipality and concerned schools are adequately prepared for the arrival of athletes, coaches, officials, and other participants.
Among the sports identified for hosting are volleyball, baseball, softball, lawn tennis, wushu, boxing, pencak silat, taekwondo, athletics, and gymnastics.
The meeting also identified several schools that will serve as billeting quarters for participating athletes and delegations. These include San Rafael Integrated School, Taytayan Integrated School, San Alfonso Elementary School, Cateel Central Elementary School, Cateel Vocational High School, and Sta. Felomina Elementary School.
Mayor Nuñez emphasized the importance of close coordination among the Local School Board, DepEd, schools, and other stakeholders to ensure that the municipality is fully prepared for the provincial sporting event.
The hosting of the Provincial Meet presents an opportunity for Cateel to demonstrate its readiness, hospitality, and commitment to supporting youth sports and athletic development. Through proper budget planning and coordinated preparations, the municipality aims to provide a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for all participating delegations.
