Preparations are underway as the Municipality of Cateel takes part as one of the host municipalities for the Provincial Athletic Meet 2026, scheduled on September 10–15, 2026.

A coordination meeting was held to discuss key preparations for the successful hosting of the provincial sports event, with representatives from various government agencies, private-sector groups, and partner communities coming together to ensure that the municipality is ready to welcome athletes, coaches, officials, visitors, and other guests.

Among the major matters discussed was the creation of a Technical Working Group (TWG) that will oversee and coordinate the different aspects of the municipality’s hosting responsibilities. The meeting also focused on the identification and preparation of billeting quarters, sporting venues, accommodation facilities, health and medical support, and other logistical requirements.
Particular attention was also given to preparations for accommodating tourists and visitors who are expected to arrive in Cateel during the provincial meet. The participation of local tourism stakeholders, hotels, businesses, and transportation groups is seen as vital in providing a safe, convenient, and welcoming experience for guests.

Representatives from the Municipal Tourism Office, Department of Education (DepEd), uniformed personnel, private-sector stakeholders, TODA, Business Sector, Hotel Association, DORECO, and the barangays of Poblacion, San Rafael, and Baybay attended the coordination meeting.
The collaborative effort highlights the importance of a whole of community approach in hosting the Provincial Athletic Meet. Through close coordination among government agencies, barangays, private establishments, and other stakeholders, Cateel aims to ensure that the sporting event will be conducted smoothly while showcasing the municipality’s hospitality and readiness to host visitors.

With the provincial meet just weeks away, participating offices and stakeholders are expected to continue working together in finalizing preparations and addressing the logistical, safety, health, accommodation, and venue requirements for the September 10 to 15, 2026 Provincial Athletic Meet.
